I'm a public policy junky who brings an entrepreneur's perspective to debates about the role of government and the functions of non-profits.

I've served on the boards of organizations in family services, the arts, municipal planning, school finance, and youth sports, though my most valuable education came as the young owner of a bar and restaurant, as a high school basketball coach, and as the news editor for an independent alt-weekly, the Peninsula Pulse. I also do promotional work for the Door County Half Marathon, Door County Beer Festival, and the Ride for Nature to benefit the Ridges Sanctuary.

In September I joined the folks at Lightspan Digital as a content strategist, where I work with a fantastic team of young women to squeeze great writing and messaging into the cozy confines of social media platforms. In short, I tell stories.

I like a hoppy beer, live music, the Green Bay Packers, and a challenge. More than anything I love a great conversation and telling a great story. Occasionally I run far, but not often smart.

I don't fancy myself an expert, but I have found that my unique background has made me a valuable resource for those starting businesses, improving programming, working in government, and leading non-profits.

In February I moved to Chicago from Wisconsin in search of new challenges, new stories to tell, and a new community to become a part of. Hit me up if you think I'd fit into yours.
