My name is Lilaine Dangerfield-Rogers and I am one of two children of Joseph and Eunice Jean Dangerfield. I was born in Pasadena California at Saint Luke’s Hospital on Washington & Altadena Dr. My parents migrated to California from Alabama and Oklahoma. I was raised in the heart of Old Pasadena; which includes, the 210 freeways, the original Santa Fe Train Railroad, and the (Tournament of Roses)Wrigley’s Mansion. Imelda Marcos used to own a Mansion in the ‘heights’ of Pasadena, when she was president of the Philippine’s. Many historical landmarks and buildings grace Pasadena’s heritage. It is safe to say that I am from ‘old town’, another one of Pasadena’s oldest streets and founding cities. All Pasadenians are familiar with ‘Old Town’s Southern-Victorian style stores and general markets. I grew into my adulthood and I have lived a productive life in the greater Los Angeles area. I worked for many great corporations like the United States Post Office, AT&T and Neutrogena. I studied architectural design at a privately owned school in Beverly Hills. It was very expensive, but I learned the basics; designs, patterns, furniture class, age, style and colors. My original hobbies and interests were; drawing, architecture, English, journalism and music. I later attended West Los Angeles Community College and acquired a new career! I studied Martin Luther King Jr. for three semesters in high school along with speech, English and journalism. Then I graduated from high school and passed all my college entrance exams. I attended Hubert Howe Bancroft, performing arts Magnet of Hollywood , CA. I earned a high school diploma from Dunedin High School, in Dunedin Fla, class of 1985! While in school, I achieved awards, honors, and scholarships . My aptitudes in speech, English, writing and journalism won me trophies for literary excellence and poetry. My role models are Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, and Toni Morrison.
