Beverly Johnson Gospel artist/songwriter is known for her evangelistic, anointed voice throughout Northern Virginia for setting the atmosphere for praise and worship through song. Beverly was born in Dallas, Texas. Bev started singing at the age 5 in the children’s choir of Greater Emanuel Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 8 and has been singing traditional and contemporary gospel ever since. She attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas with a major in Fashion Merchandising and Austin Peay State University where she earned a Bachelor’s
Degree in Commercial Arts with a minor in Marketing.

Beverly has opened up with praise and worship at numerous churches across Northern Virginia, as
well as her hometown Dallas, TX. She has provided back-up vocals for the (late) Orlando Draper, along with the “Voices of Faith” Clarksville, Tn. Bobbie Jones (Nashville, TN), and Evangelist Beverly Crawford. Bev has opened up for several gospel artists who include Maurette Brown Clark, Lonnie Hunter, and Juan Santiago & the Uninhibited Praise. She sang on the sound track of the BET movie “He Ain’t Finished with Me Yet” with the Celebration Choir under the direction of Sylstea Sledge. She has also sung with Northern Virginia Gospel Music Workshop Choir under the direction of Minister Maharold Peoples. Bev Johnson has opened up for the Virginia Black History Month Association Formal Dinner featuring keynote speaker, actress Vivica A. Fox. Bev Johnson is also featured in the book “Worth 6-Digits (31 Wise Women of Color)” by L. Nasha Barnes. In August 2012, Bev Johnson was awarded at the BLACK STREET: Black Celebration Award in New York, showcasing greatness in the black community.

In February 2009, Bev recorded her first Gospel CD, titled My Praise, My Worship. The CD was released September 7, 2009. She is the founder and Minister of music for My Praise, My Worship Music & Arts Ministry, which consist of singing, praise dancing, sign language, and mime. Bev Johnson, My Praise, My Worship Music & Arts Ministry annually host a “Praise and Worship” workshop and concert featuring top college gospel choirs including Virginia Commonwealth University “Black Awakening Gospel Choir” and Virginia State University Gospel Choir, Howard University Gospel Choir as well as showcase dynamic gospel Artists’ amongst the DC, MD, and VA area.
