Student in Heidelberg, Deutschland
Hey there! My name is Noemi and I'm a student living in the beautiful city Heidelberg.
I was born in Romania where I lived for six years until we moved to Germany. Half of my family is Hungarian which is why I speak Romanian and Hungarian, they're my mother languages. Having grown up with the Romanian, Hungarian as well as German culture is a huge blessing and I really enjoy visiting my home country but just as much living in Germany. I think it's important to stay connected to your roots and build on that. Another country I feel connected to are the United States, I lived in Phoenix, AZ, as an exchange student for a year and it has been an incredible and life-changing experience in so many ways!
Getting out of your comfort zone, going out in the world and exploring other places, experiencing different cultures, tasting your way through the world of delicious foods and meeting interesting people is the best way to broaden your perspective and ultimately learn from that, see how everything is somehow connected.
When I first started to go to university I studied "Textile and Clothing Management" in Mönchengladbach for a year. I learned a lot during that time and it was a good experience but then I realized it is not what I truly would like to do. Then I knew I wanted to become a teacher, so I started to study in Siegen and was also giving private lessons to students through an institution. After two years I visited Heidelberg with my best friend and instantly fell in love with this city - if you're ever planning to come visit, you will know what I mean :)
So I transferred universities to Heidelberg and I've been living here for a year now and enjoy studying to become a teacher for secondary school at the PH University of Education. It's a very international city, with people from all over the world and different national backgrounds and most of all, the culture here is so alive. Whenever I get the chance, I love travelling and exploring new places, and Hongkong is definitely on my bucket list! I enjoy simply having a good time with my friends and family, experimenting in the kitchen, doing sports (or just being lazy on the couch watching Netflix) and doing fun things around Heidelberg.
I am really looking forward to getting in touch with you during our telecollaboration project and excited to get to know each other more and work together.
Talk to you soon :)
