Dr. Nicole Sergeant

Dr. Nicole Sergeant is a Brooklyn, New York native currently based in the DC metro area. She is a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University in 1999, Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Howard University in 2007, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Alabama State University in 2012. She is currently working in Washington, DC within the subacute setting since 2009. As a certified geriatric specialist and clinical instructor, Nicole has extensive experience in acute care, outpatient care, aquatic therapy, sports related injuries, post surgical conditions, stroke, peer education and homecare. Before becoming a PT in the DC metro area, she worked in New York City as a PT Assistant, partnering with city hospitals, nursing homes and homecare facilities where she treated patients with assortments of sports related injuries, post surgical conditions, HIV/AIDS, gunshot wounds, pediatric disorders and cancer related complications.

Dr. Sergeant has a passion to teach within the field of PT, treat patients, and work with educating caregivers, colleagues and others in her community. Understanding that her greatest work has yet to be done, she looks forward to using her influence to encourage others within PT, as well as the greater public affected by the practice of physical therapy. She retains memberships in several professional organizations including: the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) as a Certified clinical specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy. Alongside these commitments, she is also a Credentialed Clinical instructor and a Notary Public for the state of Maryland. Currently, as an Adjunct Professor, Dr. Sergeant generally embraces any opportunity to teach within academia; remaining available and open to editing, publishing and public speaking.

Nicole Sergeant understands the power of a balanced life; in which she has set aside time to volunteer within in the church, through liturgical dance ministry and assistance in planning various events pertaining to health and woman’s spiritual growth. Dr. Sergeant ultimately is a budding entrepreneur, she continues to work on the development and marketing of Freckled LLC, her umbrella company that serves as the headliner for her medical clothing line, Morgan Taylor Scrubs.
