Nabil Faltas
The late Nabil Faltas enjoyed a career in international finance spanning more than two decades. Prior to his passing, he served as chief of special operations with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). In this capacity, he oversaw restructuring, capital recovery, and workouts in sectors such as manufacturing and mining. Nabil Faltas also had experience managing the IFC’s participation in capital markets, financing, and infrastructure investments. He worked to facilitate a number of private projects in diverse industries, ranging from transportation to energy. He also guided efforts to privatize government entities and designed creative financing structures for relatively small projects that were unable to directly access global capital markets.
Originally from Cairo, Mr. Faltas earned his MBA and master’s degree in economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He subsequently completed a PhD in the management of research and development for large-scale systems. His dissertation on the design and ethics of such systems was partially financed by NASA. A world traveler, Nabil Faltas was conversant in a number of languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, French, and Chinese.
