Hello!

My name is Nadia. I am a birth and postpartum doula.

I follow a Code of Ethics and a Standard of practice, asserted by DONA International and The Bulgarian Doula Association.

Supported by a doula during childbirth I not only overcame my biggest fear but also experienced birth as the most empowering event of my life. Naturally, with my son coming to the world, I got the overwhelming desire to become a doula myself. I believe that in an environment of compassion, respect, love and care every woman could have a beautiful childbirth, regardless of how it goes-naturally or surgical.

I also believe that with the birth of a child, a mother is born too - a vulnerable fragile mother, who needs lots of care to grow confident and powerful in her new role. Unfortunately our modern culture has little appreciation for this unique life-period, which often results in new mothers feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.

That's why I became a postpartum doula too. During the postnatal period I am there for my clients with an open heart, listening ear and encouraging words! I'd also love to cook comfort food for the new mum, to give her a massage or other postpartum care practice.

Qualifications: Certified Birth Doula by DONA International / Postpartum Doula trained by Newborn Mothers/ Breastfeeding Consultant

Birth-support package:

Initial Consultation: The first time we meet I will enlighten the role and the services of the doula. This meeting gives you the opportunity to sense if you feel comfortable with me and I if I am the doula to support you further.

Prenatal meetings: In the prenatal meetings we discuss your vision of birth, but as well your concerns or challenges. We also try different comfort measures.

On Call: I am available by phone for reassurance and information. Starting two weeks prior to your due date until birth I commit to be on call 24h.

Labor Support: As a professional doula I commit my services only for births, attended by medical caregivers. In Bulgaria this excludes home births. During your hospital birth I'll support you in your choices.

Postpartum Support: After birth I will stay with you 1-2 hours to ensure that breastfeeding is established and will follow up by phone. In the next days I will make a home/hospital visit. Few weeks after birth we can meet again to go over your birth experience.
