Nadia Stewart
Calgary, AB
Right now, I'm the Anchor of CBC News Calgary's weekend newscasts.
Calgary is where I live, but Toronto will always be home. It's also where my interest in news and journalism became evident from a young age.
I got my start at CFMT (now OMNI), before moving on to be a Reporter, Anchor and Talk Show Host for Rogers TV Peel. I've also worked as a news writer for The Weather Network, writing weather-centric casts for a national audience.
I joined the CBC in 2010, as multi-platform Reporter/Host in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. During my time out east, I covered everything from hurricanes to provincial elections, telling stories from all over the province. Prior to leaving CBC NL, I was the Weekend Anchor/Producer and back-up Weather Presenter.
TV and radio aside, I spent five years as the Editor of Planet Africa Magazine, a Toronto-based quarterly publication that celebrates the achievements of the Black community across the diaspora. I still enjoy writing for the magazine in my spare time. As far as schooling goes, I'm one of the first graduates of the University of Guelph-Humber (2006), having achieved a journalism diploma from Humber College and a BAA in media studies from the University of Guelph.
When I'm not chasing news?
You'll probably find me working out, tracking down a new adventure, out meeting new people, exploring all the arts and culture Calgary has to offer, curled up with a good book or trying to win my latest eBay auction.
