I am ready to face my next challenge. Fitness has been an important part of my life; I am a believer in the mind, body, spirit approach to life. I have taken on a new challenge; I have signed on as an online fitness coach at Beachbody.com. My goals are to help people reach their best selves, to provide encouragement along the way, and to meet new people. I am excited for this new adventure. Push yourself to the limit - Be your best self.
I am widely published as an essayist, fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction writer. You can find my latest book, Lights Out, on Kindle. My work has appeared in The New Plains Review and Epiphanymagizine.com. I am the author/editor of Exiled Voices, Portals of Discovery. My writing can also be found in The Henniker Review, The Poets’ Touchstone, and a number of newspapers and academic journals. Writers who are incarcerated have captured my interest for the past twenty-five years. I serve as an associate editor of The Journal of Prisoners on Prisons and a senior consulting editor for BleakHouse Publishing.
As a professor of writing, I have worked with students to help them find pleasure in writing. Students often hear me say that they all have stories to tell, and this is something I firmly and wholeheartedly believe. As an educator, I work tirelessly to help students achieve their goal of becoming independent learners who can think critically and achieve the success they have in mind for themselves. They often hear me say, "Out of confusion will come enlightenment." The pursuit of education may not be a smooth road at all times, but the end result is definitely worth the bumps you have to traverse to get to the goals you have set for yourself
