I have been inquisitive since a very young age. I used my allowances to buy the “Tell Me More” series and encyclopedias. I bought my first quiz book at 7 and have participated in competitions since. I also taught myself to play chess by reading the instructions. Growing up, I would watch documentaries such as David Attenbrough, BBC Horizon, and Lonely Planet. These traits have stayed with me: playing chess, quizzing, solving anagrams, reading non-fiction, learning languages, and keeping myself updated with current affairs are some of my favorite hobbies.

I chose engineering because I was curious about how the world around me functions. At NIT Durgapur, an engineering college in rural eastern India, life was often interrupted by frequent power cuts. It reminded me of my father’s struggles, studying in a public park after sunset, as electricity at home was unreliable. My parents’ ability to overcome such challenges has had a tremendous influence on me; since a child, I have learned to respect basic necessities such as water, food, and electricity. NIT’s power inconsistency led to my vocation in the energy/electricity field. Professionally, I have focused on the energy sector and will continue to strive to make an impact. Starting my career at Schneider Electric gave me enormous exposure to manufacturing, operations, and international trade. As my career progressed, my expertise expanded to energy transmission and B2B marketing. During my limited experience, I have also provided distribution network solutions to renewable energy clients, gaining appreciation for their efforts to implement innovation to further supplant conventional sources.
