Dr Naji Alyami is an Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics in the Department of English at Najran University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ORCID: 0000-0002-1499-7353). His research interests lie at the intersection of vocabulary learning strategies, sociophonetics, and applied linguistics. His recent projects investigate clear and dark /l/ in Najrāni Arabic and its relevance for the L2 acquisition of English /l/, as well as comparative studies involving Arabic-speaking learners and African L1 peers. In addition to his research, Dr Alyami has contributed to curriculum development and translation initiatives at Najran University and previously served as Head of the Translation Department (2022–2025). He regularly participates in local academic and cultural activities related to translation, language, and education.
