As a journalist, Nakell Williams has contributed her talents in various markets. She is currently a news anchor for WGXA FOX24/ABC16 in Macon, GA. Nakell previously worked as a reporter for WRIC in Richmond, Virginia.
Before joining 8News, Nakell was the Bureau Chief at WABI in Bangor, ME. There she covered the Maine Legislature and all central Maine news.
In 2006, she reported and anchored nightly newscasts for News 51 in Charleston, Illinois where she was quickly characterized by news directors as having an unrelenting hunger for journalism.
Prior to joining the News 51 team, Nakell worked for CBS affiliate WBTW News 13 in Florence, South Carolina as an editor for News 13 This Morning from 2001-2004. While at News 13, Nakell earned a B.A. in Mass Communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism.
Nakell's work in the public relations industry earned her the NJSPRA 2010-2011 Gold Communications Award for print and electronic publications. She was also the recipient of the 2009-2010 NJSPRA Silver Communications Award for her marketing, branding, and image management work in educational public relations.
While working in educational public relations, Nakell coordinated several high-profile community service projects by partnering with entities including the Quinton Aaron (Star of the Blind Side) Foundation to increase anti-bullying and childhood obesity awareness. In 2010, she spearheaded a major outreach initiative led by the Wendy Williams Show to provide educational resources for underprivileged youth in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She also served as spokeswoman for one of New Jersey's highest performing educational institutions.
From 2008-2010, Nakell had the privilege of serving the administrations of Governor Eliot Spitzer, Governor David Paterson and Governor Sonny Perdue on public issues including community & economic development and environmental conservation. She managed programs which targeted the elimination of social and economic barriers in efforts to improve the quality of life for those served by the states of Georgia and New York.
Nakell volunteers and devotes her time to organizations that combat domestic violence and advocate for the empowerment of women and their children.
She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an organization founded in 1908 and has a global commitment to servant-leadership.
Nakell is a native of sunny South Carolina. She is a Carolina girl at heart!
