As an elected official of Newark, New Jersey’s (NJ) Educational Advisory Board Nakia held several leadership roles, namely, as Chairwoman of Curriculum: working closely with the superintendent, Nakia succeeded in lobbying for cross functional, comprehensive changes to curriculum and the use of data to improve grading standards and overall educational outcomes.

Due to her keen insight and strategic thought process, Ms. White was asked to join PolitickerNJ; an affiliate of the national news brand, The New York Observer. Nakia joined the esteemed collection of political minds, making her the only woman, the only African American and the youngest to have ever contributed to the well-respected site.

Ms. White as an executive member of Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker’s (voted US most popular mayor-three years consecutively) political office and has received several honors and awards, including Newark Now’s “Newarker’s Who Transform Communities” and New Jersey Young Professionals’ “Women to Watch.”

Ms. White's professional experience includes crisis management, communications, marketing, public relations, infrastructure and finance skills; as with implementing impactful instructional leadership programs and strategies. She has excelled in complex, high-stake environments. Ms. White has a keen eye for problem solving and strategic advantage necessary for system change. She also excels in recruiting and developing talent, integrating smart technology, sea changes in projects and is known for creating a nurturing, collegial culture of collaborative self-managed high performing teams.

In November of 2013 Nakia White was recruited by Tedx Talks (www.tedx.com) to serve as a keynote speaker during their international speakers session. Tedx is a renowned vehicle of leaders and inspirational speakers, the talks are meant to stimulate thought provoking dialogue.
