Nakigudde Hannah Margaret

Nakigudde Hannah Margaret is a sustainable development advocate with a profound commitment to the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals and climate justice. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere University, grounding her advocacy work in a comprehensive understanding of social dynamics and community development.
Hannah is the founder and Executive Director of Queer Vision Uganda, a non-profit organization dedicated to championing the rights and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ persons in Uganda. She also works as a peer counselor at Freedom and Roam Uganda, a pioneer organization focusing on LBQ women's rights. In 2022, Hannah experienced conversion therapy and its frightful consequences. Motivated by a fervent desire to combat the harmful practices she witnessed, she embarked on a mission to advocate against conversion therapy and promote acceptance and understanding.
On the side of climate, she works as the Project Manager for Walton Africa, a social enterprise dedicated to plastic and textile management and recycling to address the issue of climate change. She volunteers as a Tree Ambassador for One Tree Planted, is a member of YOUNGO under the Reducing Inequalities and Inclusion Rights Working Group and an FXB International Climate Advocates Program fellow. She is also a fellow in the 2024 Aspire Leadership Program, and a contributor to Common Futures Conversations where she leverages her multifaceted skill set to contribute meaningfully to global conversations on sustainable development.
She is a writer and storyteller, using her creative talents to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. She stands as a beacon of resilience, compassion and leadership in the pursuit of a more just and sustainable future.
