I am a wordsmith who writes for others with utmost assurance. Yet, when it comes to summarizing myself as a writer, I am a bit on tenterhooks. What do I write? Do I own the language or does the language own me? Does my command over language originate from reading those who are masters at creating word structures so intricate that they leave me awestruck? Or does it come from my inner conviction that, first and foremost, a good piece of writing has to be simple, readable and engaging?
Going down the memory lane, I was so fond of reading and writing that I never knew that this is what I was born to do. It is like breathing, vital for survival but so much a part of you that it simply goes unnoticed. To me, language was never something you learn, it was simply there waiting to come to the surface.
My graduation was in botany and my post graduation was in business administration. My heart was in neither. It wasn't until I started writing that I found my true calling. From writing for local and regional business houses to eagle-eyed professionals all over the globe, I have worked for hundreds of employers till date. From greeting card messages to marketing copy to corporate reports to fiction to blog posts, ebooks and bios and more, I have come a long way and still the idea of the next leg of the journey puts a spring into my step and brings a sparkle to my eyes. Every writing job teaches me something, makes me a bit more fulfilled than before and leaves me just a tad more enriched.
This is how I summarize my summary. When I am writing, I am home.
