Nana Ama Boa-Amponsem
Mother, Teacher, and Consultant in Accra, Ghana
Greetings!
I am Nana Ama Boa-Amponsem — an education practitioner, researcher, and systems-oriented consultant working at the intersection of education leadership, systems strengthening, access and equity in Ghana and across Africa.
I currently work across policy, practice, and research to support locally grounded education reform. My work is shaped by over a decade of experience designing, implementing, and advising on education programmes, partnerships, and reforms — spanning government, non-profits, international organisations, and social enterprises.
I am the Co-founder of Think Education Ghana, where we work closely with school leaders and educators in low-cost private schools to strengthen school management, community accountability, and learning-supportive systems. Through Think Education, I have led initiatives focused on leadership development, record-keeping and data use, community engagement, and innovative approaches to school improvement.
Alongside this, I consult with and advise organisations working on education reform, innovative and results-based financing, stakeholder engagement, and programme design and evaluation. My work has included collaboration with institutions such as the Tony Blair Institute, Global School Leaders, Better Purpose, and education funders and networks operating in Ghana and internationally.
I enjoy working with organisations that are willing to ask difficult questions, rethink inherited ways of doing, and invest in learning as much as delivery.
Beyond work
I am also a mother of two, living and working in Ghana. Motherhood, family, and community deeply shape how I think about education and society.
I enjoy writing, reading and engaging in conversations that challenge what we know about society.
Let's talk
From time to time, I make space for short conversations with people who are thinking about ideas related to education, research and systems change — especially in African contexts.
If you’re working through an early idea, grappling with a question, or simply want a thinking partner for 20 minutes, you’re welcome to book a short exploratory chat with me.
These conversations are informal and curiosity-led, not consulting sessions
