Nancy Auvil a San Diego native raised in a large, loving, post military, blended, multicultural and multiethnic family, I came to value education and family. I was shown love.
This kind upbringing paired with the challenge in becoming a single mother at the start of Sent from my iPhone degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Sixteen years ago I began working as a trainer and clinician in the fields of education, counseling and treatment working at schools, hospitals, residential treatment programs, outpatient treatment programs, day treatment programs, group homes, field based clinical case management programs , day rehabilitation programs and psychiatric care programs for both publicly operated and non-profit agencies. My clinical experience is highly attuned to providing services to diverse populations with particular awareness and sensitivity to race, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, family composition and co-occurring disorder status.
Nancy Auvil currently works full time in psychiatry for a large HMO and own a private psychotherapy practice in San Diego providing services to individuals, couples and families with a variety of life challenges including mood disorders, personality disorders, addictions, impulse control disorders and relationship discord. I supervise interns and provide consultation services to businesses, military support programs, schools and community based programs.
Nancy Auvil presented on community outreach atthe 2013 California Office of Problem Gambling Program's Summit.
In 2013 I served as faculty at the University of Phoenix teaching graduate level research methods and statistics courses.
In 2009 was selected as a subject matter expert for the Board of Behavioral Sciences for the GAP exam.
In 2008 the Office of Problem Gambling trained and authorized me to provide treatment services and research data in partnership with the UCSD outpatient treatment program, being one first in California to participate in the pilot study for this state funded treatment program. I continue to treat problem gamblers and affected individuals to provide healing through best practices in the field.
For the fun of it I volunteer my time supporting women in the field of aviation. I've served on the Board of Directors for Women in Aviation International from 2012-2015 and was the Editor for the San Diego 99s, Women Pilot's from 2013-2015.
I love to fly!
