I was born in Waynesboro, PA where I lived until going to college. I've been married to my college sweetheart, Bo, for 52 years. Seven years ago Bo was diagnosed with Alzheimers. He probably had it for many years and knew before I did, although I may have not wanted to see the signs. I have been his caregiver since then.

I decided to write this blog to inform our family and friends about Bo's illness. I also hoped that I would be able to help at least one stranger -- that would make it worth doing. As it turns out, I've heard from people all around the world who share the same problem, who say they were in denial, who need a friend to share this journey with. And I've heard from people who say they've learned about Alzheimers which they may have never known, so that makes it all worth writing the blog.

I have a second blog: Fooddancer.wordpress.com -- where I write about other things in life.

We live in a lovely small town in southern New Jersey, have lived here since 1976, with our Emma dog and Charlie cat. I'm retired from education (English teacher, administrator) but still teach courses for Fairleigh Dickinson University and don't ever want to quit because teaching is my first love.

I also love to write, am more at home in front of a keyboard than a writing pad, need time to "percolate" my ideas so no brainstorming goes on paper, and I get great inspiration from my many fellow bloggers.

Last year I found a wonderful caregiver for Bo, and two months later when his home burned, Jon's wife and two young children moved in with us. It's a great new family that we've formed and they are planning on staying at least another year, so the two children are moving to our neighborhood school.

Our dog Emma and cat Charlie are the love of our lives -- and I can't imagine life without them.

I enjoy cooking and entertaining and when the stars are aligned (I have the rcipe, the ingredients and the mood) I cook a lot, especially fancy desserts. Reading and my book group are important, and I love to play my piano when I can get to it. (I need to take lessons again!)

And traveling -- anywhere, everywhere -- is a passion. I wish I could be in Paris right now!
