Nancy Kourland
Attorney Nancy L. Kourland has enjoyed a rewarding career in the bankruptcy area of the law in New York City, frequently taking on chapter 11 cases through her position as Senior Associate at Rosen & Associates, P.C. In this role, Nancy L. Kourland researches and writes about complex legal issues and maintains regular contact with firm clients. Additionally, Nancy L. Kourland assists clients through all steps of chapter 11 reorganizations, beginning with first day relief and continuing with day-to-day case management, motion practice, and both defense and prosecution. Before establishing her career, Nancy L. Kourland earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Studies and Latin from Barnard College, graduating magna cum laude and earning Departmental Honors. Nancy L. Kourland then began her legal studies at New York University School of Law. Prior to earning her Juris Doctor in 1987, Nancy L. Kourland served as a Teaching Assistant for a Civil Procedure course, as a Research Assistant, and as an Articles Editor for the Journal of International Law and Politics. Upon graduation, Nancy L. Kourland found employment with Kronish, Lieb, Weiner & Hellman, LLP as an Associate in the firm’s bankruptcy department. In this role, and similar roles with two additional firms, Nancy L. Kourland gained expertise in chapter 11 cases, representing both creditors and debtors. In addition to her legal career, Nancy L. Kourland returned to college and earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Communication and Information.
Nancy L. Kourland serves her community as a member of the Carnegie Hill Neighbors and the Central Park Conservancy, both of which strive to maintain the appearance of historic parts of New York City. An avid reader, Nancy L. Kourland enjoys the works of Philip Roth, Charles Dickens, Peter Carey, and Graham Greene, and counts Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Blindness of the Heart: A Novel by Julia Franck, and Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada among her favorite books.
