Nancy McInnes

Former educator and volunteer Nancy McInnes has kept busy by balancing her professional engagements with a number of charitable activities. The former high school English and reading Teacher enjoys giving back to her community of Gainesville, Florida, through several avenues. She provides children’s gifts to a local family in need each Christmas and organizes collections for clothing and baby essentials for area migrant families. For Nancy McInnes, compassion and thoughtfulness come easily. Beyond teaching high schoolers and having worked within her former school on ways to better engage students, McInnes used to speak about forgiveness at regional churches. A regular donor to Catholic Charities USA and similar organizations, McInnes also strongly supports local migrant families. In the past, she has collected blue jeans and baby formula from area residents and donated the gifts to migrants. She also contributes frequently to the Alachua Multi-County Migrant Education program, an initiative to help the children and young adults of migrant families receive quality educations. In addition to her teaching career, Nancy McInnes held a previous post as a Felony Probation and Parole Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections, a position for which she earned a Leadership Award and was selected for the Field Officer Training program. Aside from these past professional activities, McInnes maintains membership with the Writer’s Alliance of Gainesville and the Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity. In the past, Nancy McInnes has volunteered with the Girl Scouts of the USA, Youth Soccer Inc., the National Organization for Women, and local chapters of Beloved Daughters of God and Ministry of Mothers Sharing. During her free time, McInnes enjoys reading Renaissance poetry, listening to different types of music, and writing prose.
