I’m an author, an editor, a journalist, a copywriter, a blogger and a mother.
MY BLOG
These days you'll find me most often via my blog (naomibulger.com).
In it I record the things in life that give me joy: my family, good food, getting out and about in Melbourne, travel, craft, and snail mail projects.
I also use the blog to discover, curate and share beautiful things that other people create: art and photography, interior design, music, film, guerilla art and acts of kindness.
MY STORY
In 2008 I moved from Sydney, Australia, to New York City to find adventure. When I got there, I also found love.
So now I’m back in Australia, living in Melbourne with a man who makes me laugh every day, our children Madeleine and Harry, my stepdaughter Emily who visits as often as high school allows, a dog with international stamps on his passport, and the world’s fattest rescue cat.
MY WRITING
My debut novella "Airmail" was published in April 2011; I’m the author of non-fiction books "Talk Without Being Interrupted" and "Seventeen Summers"; and my poetry was included in the Australian Poetry Encouragement Award anthology in 2002. Right now I’m working on a novel about wine, and the research is rather enjoyable.
I’m the former Editor of "Nett" magazine and an international magazine that I’m not allowed to name here but you can ask me about it privately if you’re interested in my portfolio. Once upon a time I worked in radio, and I broadcast to more than 80 stations each day as senior journalist and commodity analyst for Le Gras News. When pressed, I can still do the newsreader voice.
Nowadays I write features for magazines across Australia and the US. I’m also a copywriter and communications consultant, which means I spend a lot of time developing strategies and writing and editing online and print copy for various corporate and not-for-profit clients.
