Phil Keoghan, The Amazing Race host, screams something like “5 continents, 9 countries, 12 cities, more than 59,000 miles Dana and Matt congratulations you are the winners of The Amazing Race!” at the end of every season finale. As a dedicated Amazing Race fan, I can attest that there is something so special about finishing a season of the show; it showcases so many parts of the world and allows you to absorb the culture and people in those countries in every episode. After watching 30 seasons of the show, my love for traveling and interacting with new cultures has exponentially grown. I caught the travel bug when I first visited my family in Bangkok, Thailand at five years old. Since then, I have traveled to over twenty countries each giving me a unique experience. Traveling stimulated my interest in pursuing a career in international business; I strive to provide my peers with a global vision to try to understand the world across continental lines. Whether I decide to go on a shopping spree in the fashion capital of Europe or cycling in Amsterdam, traveling brings out an exciting side of myself while immersing myself in new cultures and supplementing my college education. It is the root of my curiosity, and it makes me feel alive. My morals and who I am as a person stem from all the people I have encountered, the memories I have made, and lessons I have learned here and abroad. I hope to continue to be open-minded and enthusiastic about new adventures when interacting with people and places at UGA.
