Nar Can

BC Emergency Response in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Read my blog

Narcan (aka Naloxone) is a life saving antidote used to neutralize opiates in the event somebody overdoses. Use of Narcan in OD response is the only reliable and effective way to ensure lives are saved, and the availability of it to a trained and competant person who can administer quickly to opiate users who need it is how the BC Overdose Death Emergency situation can and will be resolved.

Sadly, the people and organizations tasked with addressing this critical public health crisis are doing such a poor job that more than 9/10 of people surveyed in the highest risk areas were still not trained in administering this treatment, and even less had a Narcan kit on them.

This is shameful, unacceptable and represents a clear case of negligence by the very harm reduction, public health and outreach organizations that claim to be professionals deliverying immediate action in the places that need it most. Actions speak louder than words so if you want to know the truth on the ground behind the speculation and sensational claims in national media and public health posters, then read my blog or watch my live feed from the epicentre of Canada's hottest spot when it comes to this subject and you will see for yourself just how blatant the absence of any help is for the people who need it most.

Wall of SHAME for the BC overdose response issue: Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, Portland Hotel Society, InSite, City of Vancouver, VANDU, St Pauls Hospital, Providence Health Care, Drug Users Resource Centre, Carnegie Centre + Carnegie Outreach. (details of the allegations against each group on my blog at https://dtesbiz.wordpress.com/ and shame list last updated Set 20th 2016)
