Naseemah Mohamed Ogunnaike
About Naseemah Mohamed Ogunnaike: Naseemah Mohamed Ogunnaike (Harvard College '12) is a Rhodes Scholar and Doctoral Candidate in International Educational Policy at Oxford University. She is also a Pre-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University, and is the African Programs Director of Harvard’s Cultural Agents Initiative. Her work focuses on the use of the arts as a pedagogical tool to overcome the vestiges of colonial educational methods in contemporary African classrooms and curricula. Her Master's Thesis focused on education in conflict and post-conflict zones on the continent. While at Harvard, she served as President of the Harvard African Students' Association and was awarded the annual Harvard College Women’s Leadership award, the Harvard Foundation Insignia Award, and the Dorothy Hicks Lee Thesis Prize. She was also a Mellon Mays fellow and Weatherhead Center fellow. After graduating in 2012, she spent a year studying Indian Classical dance in Kerala, India on a Michael Rockefeller traveling fellowship.
