Nasirul Islam is a Bangladeshi-Italian photographer and visual artist based in London. He studied photography at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, where he developed a strong foundation in documentary practice and visual storytelling.
Nasir’s work is shaped by a deep interest in cinema, literature, and travel. Through both analog and digital media, he explores themes of memory, identity, and displacement. His practice focuses on experimentation with narrative form and visual language, often blending personal and sociopolitical perspectives.
In 2016, he was awarded the Fritt Ord Student Grant for his project Foniasophobia, which examines fear, trauma, and silence. His photographs have been exhibited in Bangladesh, Italy, Greece, and Norway.
Nasir continues to use photography as a means of exploration, dialogue, and creative inquiry — always seeking new ways to engage with stories that resonate across cultures and borders.
