Ever since I was 15, I knew that I wanted to work in baseball in some capacity, whether it be as a trainer, psychologist, or the business side of things. As I grew older, I realized that business was my passion and that I was good at it, so I started to work towards my goal. That is how I ended up at UMass Amherst; they have the best undergraduate sport management program in the country, if not the world. Through UMass, I have continued my pursuit of my dream, to work for the front office of a major league baseball team. Through UMass I got my first three internships, two of which with minor league baseball teams and the third with a lacrosse team. Upon entering the field I realized that my dreams might not be where I end up, and have since learned to consider other alternatives to the front office like working in sales or human resources. For this summer I have an interview with my hometown team, the Philadelphia Phillies, lined up which would result in a paid internship if I get the job. To me, this would be the very beginning of realizing my dream and I hope that one day I can look back upon this time in my life and realize just how much UMass has helped me toward achieving my career goal.
