Natalia Kondratieva
Clean Air Enthusiast in York Region, ON
I enjoy advocating for improvements in indoor air quality, a passion spurred by the pandemic that resulted in a career change from working in legal and compliance to working with HVAC building automation systems. Trying to strike the right balance between my administrative, technical, and hands-on skills. Interested in the intersections between public health and technology, especially when it comes to scalable solutions through automation.
I passionately believe that clean air is a human right and that there is no downside to eliminating airborne hazards.
Clean air is essential for protecting our health from a growing number of airborne pathogens that have been amplified with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, I continue to wear fit-tested N95 respirators whenever working in person. I do so because I know that my respirator's filter material is identical to that of HEPA filters found in air handlers. From a risk and compliance standpoint, I see the mounting evidence of Covid's ongoing danger combined with lack of treatment or cure resulting in medical and disability insurance claims alongside high employee turnover.
Clean air is also essential for protecting our health from a growing number of environmental hazards such as micro- and nanoplastics, mould, emissions, fires, and volatile organic compounds amplified by a rapidly warming planet.
