Disabled Veteran, ADOS LA Advisory Board Member, and Asst Secretary and Pres Candidate SFV NAACP 2020 in Los Angeles, CA

Back my campaign

Natalie Hatcher is a disabled, United States Air Force Gulf War Veteran and a Licensed Nurse with 34 years of expert and quality healthcare experience. While Hatcher was enlisted in the US Air Force, she worked specifically as a Bioenvironmental Engineering Specialist, which involved performing Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Protection surveys.

Hatcher transitioned into the nursing field after leaving the Air Force. She was responsible for coordinating Long-Term and Sub-Acute Care, Hospice and Palliative Care, in addition to Detox Treatment as a Charge Nurse and Case Manager. She provided advocacy services for her patients and other vulnerable populations in her community. She also provided permanent housing assistance to the homeless and disabled veterans.

Currently, Hatcher works as Assistant Secretary of the San Fernando Valley (SFV) NAACP, where she is responsible for record-keeping, coordinating internal work, reporting, and sharing time-sensitive information with the SFV NAACP Branch and their membership. Hatcher also serves as an active member of the American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Los Angeles Advisory Board. She is highly involved with strategic planning, outreach, and steering for the organization.

This year, Ms. Hatcher successfully campaigned for the first piece of legislation ever signed into law in the nation to study Reparations for the Descendants of persons enslaved in the United States by Gov. Gavin Newsom on September 30, 2020, which was a historical event.

Furthermore, Hatcher has a great passion for Genealogy, which is the study of ancestry and lineage. She volunteered as a Research Assistant for 18 years specializing in Brick-Wall Research for Black American Descendants of US Slavery, who are often unable to locate records for their families beyond the 1870 census year or Civil War and cannot afford to hire a professional to assist them in searching for records. Hatcher is thrilled to help other people reunite with long-lost family members and uncover their family histories. The stories hidden from them about who they are, add depth to abstract family trees. The great thing about all of these experiences is that it gives people this indescribable feeling of being made whole. That is why she gives her time and talent freely and wishes to continue doing this work.
