Hello! My name is Natalie Sang and I am currently a sophomore at Townsend Harris High School. My time in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has taught me some crucial skills for the workplace such as crafting an effective resume, cover letter, and CV. Apart from that, SYEP has also allowed me to build my communication skills by working in teams to create our final project. Most importantly, SYEP has let me explore potential career paths and I now have a much more distinct idea of what I would like to do. SYEP has sparked my interest in coding, entrepreneurship, and also activism.

Aside from my experience in SYEP, I have also been enrolled in Science of Smart Cities (SoSC) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. The various mentors in this program taught us about the art of coding in the context of helping others. It was truly fascinating and inspiring to learn about this topic, and I was able to foster my teamwork skills by working on various projects with my peers. For instance, I worked with another participant to make a functioning solar panel, on a small scale, to demonstrate what types of appliances could be implemented in our city.

My collective experiences in mentorship programs and volunteer work have truly been guiding forces in my life. I have grown tremendously, not only as a student, but also as a human being. I have cultivated skills that will be useful, not only in the workplace, but also in the real world. I hope to utilize my expertise in ways that will change the world.
