Natalie Schlesinger
student and future music executive in Syracuse, NY
My name is Natalie Schlesinger, and I am a senior studying Public Relations at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. I currently work as an A&R Consultant at Big Machine Records after interning with the A&R team this past summer. During my internship, I scouted emerging artists through live showcases, writer’s rounds, and social media; facilitated meetings; participated in pitch meetings; and helped identify songs for potential artist cuts. I also managed song databases and systems, including Box and DISCO, while supporting the team’s day-to-day A&R operations.
In addition to my A&R experience, I have a strong background in music publicity. Last summer, I interned in Los Angeles at 2B Entertainment, where I led press and media coordination for Green Day during their summer festival run. I secured press coverage for 13 dates across Europe and North America while also contributing to campaigns for artists including OK Go, My Chemical Romance, The Goo Goo Dolls, and more. I have also gained experience in tour management, assisting the DJ CABRA with tour logistics and management, and previously worked as a press intern at Biz 3 Publicity.
I am also an accomplished singer-songwriter who regularly releases original music and performs live. Through my own music career, I have gained firsthand experience navigating the artist side of the industry, from creating and releasing music to building an audience and developing a personal brand. I have amassed more than 1.5 million views across my social media platforms, giving me an additional perspective on how artists connect with audiences and grow their careers in today’s digital landscape.
