My name is Natasha, and I am a recent Master's counseling graduate from UW-Whitewater's Counselor Education program. Here, I emphasized in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA). I am certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor-In-Training (LPC-IT), Substance Abuse Counselor-In-Training (SAC-IT) and certified to take my national social work exam to be certified as a Social Worker.
My passion for the mental health field started my senior year when I started my first internship with Recovery Dane. Here I served as a Dane County Mental Health System Expert and eventually grew into a Case Manger with SOAR Case Management, serving those with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). What I learned about this population is that it is definitely not easy, but it is without a doubt, the most rewarding population to work with.
What I love most about the field of addiction work is that it challenges you to think outside the box. I am currently working at a treatment center and plan to continue this work, possibly going back for my Ph.D (later down the road).
