Nat Bothwell

Pastor Nat Bothwell serves the community of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, Iowa. A rostered leader in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Bothwell is called to the work of theologian, evangelist, social justice advocate, counselor, and care taker. Pastor Bothwell takes a Christological approach to his work as a pastor, focusing on themes of ultimate freedom, truth, justice, and the mystery of faith.Prior to his ordination and call to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pastor Bothwell served as the interim pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Ely, Iowa and again at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Iowa.. Drawing on his prior management experience, and with the authorization of the Bishop of the Southeastern Iowa Synod, Bothwell led both interim congregations through a time of transition. Among other responsibilities, Pastor Bothwell helped guide the work of visioning and beginning again as each congregation prepared itself for new leadership.Pastor Bothwell earned his Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He completed his Clinical Pastoral Education at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He additionally holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Pastor Bothwell is a member of the Ballard Area Ministerial Alliance.
