Nathan Bauder

Nathan Bauder is a Canadian lawyer and community leader whohas spent most of his life in Northern British Columbia. He currently practiceslaw in Northern BC including Fort Nelson, Fort St. John and Dawson Creekthrough his own firm, the Nathan R. Bauder Law Corporation. For over 13 years, Nathanhas practiced various types of law, including criminal defence, family, realestate, corporate and aboriginal law. Nathan is also the president of NorcanEnergy Corporation, a local natural gas production company.

Nathan completed his undergraduate university coursework atCapilano University, Okanagan University College, and Northern Lights Collegeand worked in between and part time during school by as a chainsaw/industrialsalesman. He served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve as a Naval CombatInformation Operator with HMCS Discovery from 1994-1996 and from 2000-2002. In2001, Nathan graduated with a law degree from the University of BritishColumbia. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2002 after articlingwith Hope Heinrich, Barristers and Solicitors in their Prince George law firm. Nathan then practiced law at Hope Heinrich,Barristers and Solicitors for three years before moving to the Tyo LawCorporation of Prince George in 2004. In 2005, Nathan moved north to FortNelson to open his own legal practice in the underserved community.

Nathan has practiced in a variety of legal areas during hiscareer. He has worked as an adjudicator for residential and commercial propertytax assessment dispute boards, he has heard matters on child and adult care forthe Community Care and Assisted Living Appeal Board, and has conducted hearingsfor patients certified under the Mental Health Act. Nathan also currentlyserved as chairperson with the Passenger Transportation Board in Victoria, BritishColumbia, in which he was responsible for the Public Transportation LicensingAuthority.

In addition to his legal work, since moving to Fort Nelson, Nathanhas been highly involved in the Fort Nelson community and the Northern BritishColumbia communities as a whole. He is proud of his aboriginal roots, and as aregistered member of the Okanagan First Nation has been an avid supporter ofthe Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission. Nathan also offers his legal services togroups like the Northern Rockies Aboriginal Women’s Society pro bono.
