Nathan Duncan

As general manager at Patagonia in Palo Alto, California, Nathan Duncan is responsible for day-to-day and financial oversight of the store, in addition to serving as a voice for environmental issues in the community. Complementing his efforts in the latter regard, Nathan Duncan completed the outdoor education program at the National Outdoor Leadership School, and has a combined 4 years of experience as an environmental education volunteer with Peace Corps Togo and Peace Corps Guinea.
Prior to joining Patagonia in 2019, Nathan Duncan served 5 years as head of school and academic director at Academy at Trails Carolina, where he leveraged adult learning principles to improve professional development efforts, spearheaded curriculum development, and managed the organization’s budget, among other responsibilities. He also served as principal intern at Rosman Elementary School. Previously, he taught history and geography at Cohasset High School, Sharon Middle School, and Hingham Middle School.
Mr. Duncan holds master's degrees in educational leadership and international relations from Queens University of Charlotte and Boston University, respectively. He focused on Africa studies at the latter institution, and titled his thesis "Can Economic Conditionality Produce Good Governance and Political Reform?" He also holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his two children and his wife Amy, who is a former United Methodist Church pastor in North Carolina.
