Nat Jones

Chicago, Illinois, United States

The city that never sleeps, New York City: “If you can make it there then you can make it anywhere.” Those iconic words sum up my values and work ethic as a native New Yorker. I graduated from New York Tech with a degree in advertising and design that would later provide a foundation for my career.
The creation of the worldwide web was the key that opened up opportunities and led me to a new field – digital advertising, though at the time I could not afford to send myself back to school. So, with a computer, a few borrowed programs and numerous books, I taught myself everything I could. I would sit at my desk for 16 hours straight, reading, coding and teaching myself the programs I needed to get a job in the digital world. I took on freelance jobs, doing anything and everything. I created my website and within a week I was freelancing at digital agencies of various names and sizes. Eventually, I was hired by Digitas and was fortunate enough to meet Andrew Ingkavet. He then introduced me to Larry Harris who was, at the time, the ECD for FCBi New York. Fast forward 14 years later and I’m a VP Creative Director for FCB Chicago. If you ask me how I did it, I would say, “Passion for what I do, staying humble and being hungry.”
Currently, I manage the largest digital client and second largest client for FCB Chicago, COX telecommunications. My responsibilities include managing everything from the .com, online media, ecommerce, social and the CRM programs.

I am responsible for a lot as a creative leader. My focus is to create great, effective advertising that drives business and meets current and future goals. I manage a team of ten creative people whom I mentor and aide in developing their skills so that they too may flourish. Doing this promotes harmony along with a productive and creative work environment which I believe is the key to the success of any business.
Advertising is my passion. The digital space presents new opportunities every day and gives brands a unique way to engage with an audience. I love that this area of advertising is driven not only by technology but also by the imagination.
