I have been an author and journalist/photographer who worked in New York City for 15 years. Throughout my journalistic career, I have reported on war and ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, conflict diamonds in Sierra Leone, and the deforestation of the Central American rainforest, as well as gender issues such as domestic violence, teenage motherhood, sexual abuse of girl children, Hospice Care in America and Female Genital Mutilation, among many, for publications including Time, Newsweek, Japanese Esquire, New York Magazine, Paris Match, Cosmopolitan magazine.

Although most of my work require much preliminary research as well as field work, particularly the authored book "Document Female Genital Mutilation" (Shueisha Publishing, 2003) drew on travel to six African countries over three years of extensive research. http://www.natsukoutsumi.com
