Natalie Rodriguez

San Francisco Bay Area

My name is Natalie Rodriguez and I am a bilingual music and art multimedia journalist based in the San Francisco, Bay Area. I obtained a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Ethnic and Xicano studies at the University of California in Berkeley and am currently working to complete my master’s degree in New Media Journalism through Full Sail University.

I was born and raised in Oakland, Calif. I am passionate, artistic and community driven. It is my hope that through my journalistic work I will be able to give a voice to the underserved people of my community, particularly, the youth.

In more than five years of working and volunteering at different local radio stations I was able to work in promotions, marketing, voice over, hosting and reporting. For more than three years I worked at the Regional Mexican format radio station, KRZZ 93.3 FM, La Raza and then made a drastic change to the Spanish Rock and Alternative radio and television channel, Union Rocker. For four years I have been acting as a volunteer through Circulo Cultural, a local non-profit organization. I currently work with children and youth as a part of a community-learning center and have done so in diverse programs for more than five years.

My articles have recently been featured in publications such as Silicon Valley De-Bug and El Observador.

It was a combination of my love and passion of music, the arts and my community that led me to create NatyRockdriguez.com, an outlet for my work as a freelance journalist. My hope is to soon be able to combine My talents and experience as a reporter or host at a Latino based television channel.
