Nicholas Aveni

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

My name is Nicholas Aveni. I amcurrently a Junior at the Isenberg School of Management. My major is Finance and my minor is in Economics. I am also an aspiring CPA. I believe that it is important to encompass every aspect of business to get a full understanding of the corporate world of finance. This is why I have decided to disect all areas of the money side of business and make it my missions to understand all these key elements. I am involved on campus in the Investment Club and Finance Society as well as working as an Resident Assistant. I also work for State Street during the school semesters. In my spare time I love to ride motorcycles and work on my jeep. I am down to earth and enjoy a good time.

My Passion

What gets me up in the morning? What keeps me going? What do I crave to learn more? I have a passion for Finance. From the start in highschool I took an interest in accounting courses that gave me the structure to work with. From there I had economics courses that fueled the fire. In college I knew I wanted to study finance, so I got involved with any organization that had even a hint of finance. I joined both the finance society and investment club at the start of freshman year. My focus shifted from the finance society towards the investment club because it embodied more about what finance was about. The Finance Society talked more about the etiquitte of business. Although useful, there are only so many times you can learn about what kind of socks to where. What I do enjoy about being part of the club are the people who share the same interests as me. They are great company. As far as the Investment Club goes, this is my pride and joy. I look forward to Tuesday nights for this reason. When I entered my sophomore year I became a board member for the club. I enjoy giving advice to people in the club and teaching students more about finance. There is a lot to take in and sometimes it is more easily understood from a peer rather than a professor. We talk about current events and topics that the students seem to be interested in, instead of topics that don't spark a lot of interest that are covered in a classroom. We not only teach a lot of the fundamentals of investing and finance, but we also talk about economics, accounting, and political influences. I could talk forever about this club and my passion for finance, but I hope this gave some insight into what I enjoy.
