Nayeem Ahsan is markedly the youngest member of the RQM staff. Since he is in the relative age range of most of his students, he is able to understand their difficulties and actively engage them to learn new material. Rather than teach his students what to think, he shows them how to think. By drawing connections between what they already know and what they don’t, students better comprehend the unfamiliar information.
Before joining RQM, Nayeem worked on current Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney’s 2010 congressional campaign. Starting as an intern, part of a large group of volunteers, Nayeem quickly worked his way up the campaign ladder by conversing with thousands of each candidate’s respective constituents each and every week. He eventually directed the efforts of the entire group, while working closely with the campaign managers and candidates themselves to ensure that both campaigns were a success. To this day, he is still asked to consult with various campaigns to help them become as efficient as the campaigns he has worked. Nayeem brings that level of commitment to RQM, as he works tirelessly to ensure that the many children who walk into RQM, leave as prepared students ready to to tackle whichever challenges they must respectively face.
Nayeem has also worked with private investor, Jerry Cahn, to bring affordable renewable energy to the tri-state area. Nayeem worked with ConEdison, the largest energy provider in the demographic, and Vridian, a green energy supplier, to retool renewable energy rates to levels lower than ‘brown energy’. Alternative energy is a rather unfamiliar concept to many of the inhabitants in the cities as the technology is better adapted for more rural locations. With this complication in mind, Nayeem led a team of interns to many of the city’s great public parks to inform visitors of the purpose and benefits of green energy. By being able to understand the effects of global warming on their surroundings, the visitors started to gain interest in this concept. The team was successful in persuading many of them to switch their energy supplier to Vridian while keeping ConEdison as their energy provider. Nayeem aspires to continue his work to bring affordable green energy to the eight billion people of New York City one day.
Nayeem’s experience at Vridian taught him the importance of the consumer. In order to persuade his prospective customers to convert to an unfamiliar technolog
