Naomi Barrettara
My name is Naomi Barrettara, and I am currently a doctoral student in Musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York, NY. My primary areas of research are music and copyright law, opera history and opera education in the public sphere. I work as a Program Development Consultant and Lecturer at the Metropolitan Opera Guild, where I develop educational programs for adults and family workshops. My work at the Guild includes developing and teaching courses such as Opera Boot Camp, Score Reading Crash Courses, introductory music theory classes, and the Opera Explorers family program, as well as participating in the annual Summer HD Festival lecture series and Opera Outlooks: Pre-Performance Lectures during the opera season. I am passionate about music pedagogy in all its forms, including outreach and education in world of professional performing arts organizations. My work at the Met Opera Guild and as a grad student has involved several projects related to online community engagement and digital learning. My interest in music and copyright law is primarily focused on the connection between classical music and the public domain, free culture, and interactive technology and pedagogy.
