Lonwabo Ncedani

I am Lonwabo Ncedani, a third-year student at the University of Johannesburg studying Bachelor of Education, majoring in Life Orientation and Physical Education.

I am originally from Worcester in the Western Cape and now based in Johannesburg. I strive to make an impact in learners' life, help them unlock their potential and strive for success in life.

Beyond my interest to help learners strive and helping them unlock their potential, my interest lies within sports, mainly Hockey. Other interests include fitness, video games, running and animals, mainly dogs.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching is grounded in the belief that education is a transformative partnership. At the University of Johannesburg I aim to create inclusive, intellectually rigorous learning environments where students are not passive recipients of knowledge but active co-creators of understanding.

I prioritise:

• Student-centred engagement – connecting theory to real-world South African and African contexts so that learning feels relevant and purposeful.
• Critical thinking and independent inquiry – encouraging students to question assumptions, analyse evidence, and develop their own reasoned positions.
• Accessibility and support – recognising the diverse backgrounds and challenges our students face, and providing clear guidance, timely feedback, and multiple pathways to success.
• Continuous reflection – regularly evaluating my own practice and adapting methods so that every cohort benefits from improved teaching.

Ultimately, I measure success not only by examination results but by the confidence, curiosity, and ethical awareness students carry with them beyond the classroom.

Overall, I'm dedicated, passionate and strive for success and achieving great things with everything I do and involved in.
