Neal Wood
Hi There!
My name is Neal Wood and I reside in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area. By trade, I am a Director of Software Engineering for a large internet-based company. Application development has always been my pride and passion ( at least as far back as the Apple 2E ). As a leader, my basic principles are:
- Lead by example - Software engineers should be led by managers whose background is also in software engineering. This is critical because when push comes to shove...any leader should be capable of rolling up their sleeves and jumping into the trenches with their team
- Balance Quantity with Quality - Obviously, we need to shorten time-to-market so we can generate revenues. Equally as obvious, we need to ensure the highest quality standards are met so what we deploy doesn't break. Find the balance and "drive" it. When it gets out of alignment ( and it will ), reset. When push comes to shove, fall to Quality
- Be Decissive - Indecisiveness is a poison. It allows room for failure, which is always waiting behind the curtain for the right moment. Make smart decision - as expediciously as possible
- Your Credibility - is defined by the success of your team - plain and simple. You are as strong as your weakest link. Ensure your recruit a top-notch team and win their allegiance - it's a must
