Neda Spotted Wolf
Missoula, MT
My name is Neda Ellen Spotted Wolf. I grew up mostly on my dad’s reservation in North Dakota. One day, I ventured further west and fell in love with the mountainous terrain surrounding Missoula, MT, and knew it would someday be my home. And it is.
I was ready to accept a job promotion of sorts at my customer service job and was congratulating myself on my diligence when it hit me: This has become my life. I pictured myself growing old there, never having tried to write the things I thought I would. That was sad and scary. After promising myself this is the year I get serious about writing, I declined the offer.
I hope this blog is just what I need to get me writing again. There’s a freedom in blogs where my true voice peeks through, a voice I hope to transfer to the pages of a manuscript. I experienced this freedom the summer of 2007 when I blogged during the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. It was fun and I hope it still is. Lately, it seems all I write is my signature, but words are all aswirl near my heart and I need to release them.
I have to. If I don’t, I’ll have to beg for that promotion.
