Prior to Ready Range, Burks founded SourceYourCity—a digital platform connecting local reporters with local experts to enhance the quality of local news. Following its 2010 launch in Nashville, Tenn., SourceYourCity eventually expanded to Austin, TX and San Francisco, CA.
Before taking the plunge into life as an entrepreneur, Burks also spent time honing her public relations skills as an account executive at a Nashville-based PR firm, KVBPR, and media relations specialist at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
