Neil Bolger
Neil Bolger is an Elite Triathlete form Greenhills in South Dublin, Ireland.
He took up Triathlon in 2003 at the age of 16 when he joined Pulse Triathlon Club. Having been a competitive swimmer form the age of 7 he was looking for new sporting challenges.
Starting University in 2005 Neil continued to swim competitively at a national level while racing triathlon as an added sporting outlet.
In 2007 he travelled to Hamburg Germany for the World Age Group Triathlon Championships. Having preformed well and thoroughly enjoyed the international competition Neil made the full move from Swimming into Triathlon upon returning home.
Unfortunately 2008 and 2009 were marked with health issues leaving him sidelined from competitive sport and having to put his studies on hold.
In 2010 with a fresh bill off health he finished of his degree in Leisure Management and got back into racing at a competitive level. Neil spent the summer racking up a number of podiums around Ireland and breaking into Elite racing at the London city triathlon.
With the taste for Elite draft legal competition Neil focused the 2011 and 2012 seasons around the British Triathlon Super Series. Here he gained massive experience racing some of the best athletes form around the world.
2013 was a breakthrough year for Neil finishing 4th overall in the British Triathlon Super Series, thanks to two top 10s and a top 15 finish during the series. The result gained the attention of Triathlon Ireland and was awarded his ITU debut at World Cup Alicante.
After attending warm weather training camps with the Irish team he returned to the British Super Series in 2014. Again producing top 10 finishes and stamping his name as one of the main protagonists on the circuit. Neil finished of a successful year racing ETU European Cups in Romania and Spain.
Outside of triathlon Neil is heavily involved in scouting. Locally he is a leader with the scout section in the 65th Greenhills/Dublin scout group. At county level a member of the Scout program team, nationally as a member of the Venture scout program team and national events team. As a youth member he achieved Scouting Irelands highest award ‘The Explorer Belt’.
What lies ahead for Neil?
His focus is now aimed towards the European and World cup circuits where he'll chase world and olympic ranking points.
