Born on July 9, Neil Hollander is a theater and film director, filmmaker and screenwriter, author of several books. Even during his early studies, he managed to impress his professor of theater directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

Hollander graduated from the University of Washington - Academy for theater and film. His main field of work is the film, but also works in other branches of art: illustration, literature, film and TV production. In his career Hollander held various jobs - started as editor for a local TV station, and after two years became artistic director of the Studio for animated film of RISD in New York. Since 1999 he is a Professor at the Department of Animation at Academy of Fine Arts. As a professor he has been lecturing on three theoretical subjects and is also a visiting professor at many US and European universities. For almost six years he was president of the Association of American Filmmakers. From 1992 to 1998 Hollander was the program director of the World Festival of Animated Films, New York. He was a jury member of numerous short film festivals.

As a film director, Neil Hollander worked on over 160 projects in US, Canada, Mexico, Poland and other countries. Only a quarter of his projects are not based in the US, but most of them are studied at the universities of Southern California and Texas. Many of his films have been awarded at the most famous festivals: Annecy, Varna, Ottawa, Oberhausen, Madrid, Berlin ... His rich filmography are the films: "Burma: A Human Tragedy," "Under the Radar: Burma," "H for Hunger," "Birds of Passage," "First Flights with Neil Armstrong." Movies "Sea Devils " and "Riding the Rails " were chosen for best film at the London Film Festival.

His project "Nobel Voices" is included in the collection "Videohistory Project collection" made by Nobel Committee.

Hollander has published several books like "The Last Sailors: The Final Days Of Working Sail," "The Great Zoo Break," "Elusive Dove: The Search for Peace During World War I" and other. As a theater director he has directed four plays. As a journalist, Hollander has written over two hundred original columns in many daily journals.
