Greg Neise
Greg Neise developed his interests in photography and conservation as a youngster growing up in Chicago, across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo. At the age of 10, he worked alongside Dr. William S. Beecher, then Director of the Chicago Academy of Sciences and a pioneering ornithologist, and learned to photograph wildlife, an interest that developed into a career supplying images for magazines, newspapers, institutions and books, including National Geographic (print, web and television), Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Boston Globe, Nature, Lincoln Park Zoo, Miami Zoo, Jacksonville Zoo, The Field Museum and a host of others. He has served as President of the Rainforest Conservation Fund, a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the world’s tropical rainforests. Greg created and launched Lincoln Park Zoo’s web site in 1994 and has conceptualized and produced web sites for the Field Museum, Corporate Express, Prairie Packaging, RealClear Politics, Golin/Harris, Heitman Financial Services, Amazonia Expeditions, Jim Ryan for Illinois Attorney General and many others. He also worked as a consultant for several Chicago agencies including Golin/Harris, Edelman, TFA/Leo Burnett and Gordon-Hanrahan, helping them steer their web initiatives. In 2003 he took a full time position at Lincoln Park Zoo as Manager of Web and Graphics Technology, Staff Photographer and Photo Editor of Lincoln Park Zoo Magazine, where he worked until spring of 2009. Greg is also very involved with the Illinois birding community, owning and administrating the Illinois Birders’ Forum, managing the Illinois Birder’s Group on Facebook and the Illinois Rare Bird Alert system. He also owns and is editor of the multi-author blog, North American Birding.
