Dr. Sherif Fadel Fahmy is an accomplished Associate Professor in Computer Engineering at the Sheraton,
Cairo branch of the College of Engineering in the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime
Transport (AASTMT). He has been the chair of the department since 2016. With a deep passion for
teaching, he is dedicated to fostering the academic growth of both undergraduate and postgraduate
students.

Born in Egypt and raised in Nigeria, Dr. Fahmy's journey in education led him to Cairo, Egypt, where he
has established himself as a respected educator and researcher. He completed his Bachelor's and
Master's degrees in Computer Engineering at the AASTMT, solidifying his foundational knowledge in the
field. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he pursued his doctoral studies at Virginia Tech, obtaining a Ph.D.
in Computer Engineering.

Dr. Fahmy's research interests span across multiple domains, with a particular focus on operating
systems, distributed systems, and machine learning. His contributions to these areas have been
recognized through his publications in reputable academic journals and his active participation in
conferences and workshops.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Fahmy embraces a diverse range of hobbies. He finds solace in
reading, immersing himself in various literary genres to broaden his intellectual horizons. As a nature
enthusiast, he tends to his garden, cultivating a serene and vibrant environment. Dr. Fahmy also
possesses a love for physical fitness, engaging in running to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

In his leisure time, Dr. Fahmy enjoys indulging in the hobbies of stamp collecting, coin collecting,
fountain pen collecting, and mechanical watches. These hobbies showcase his appreciation for history,
craftsmanship, and the intricate beauty of these timeless artifacts.
