Neville Mars is the principal of MARS Architects in Shanghai, a sustainable planning and architecture studio with over ten years of experience in China. MARS Architects have won national and international architecture competitions, including the winning bid for an office tower in Chongqing, the winning entry for the national image museum in Chengdu, and the winning entry for a brand headquarters in Sofia, currently under construction.
Neville Mars (PhD) is the director of the Dynamic City Foundation (DCF), an interdisciplinary research platform investigating rapid urbanization in China. The research of the DCF has been applied to various ecocity projects across China, including the Sino-Dutch Ecocity in Shenzhen, a comprehensive master plan for Caofeidian Ecocity, sustainable Pudong 2040, and the post-disaster master plan for UN Habitat in Tacloban.
Mars is the author of Chinese Dream - a society under construction (010 Publishers, 2008), a member of the BMW Guggenheim Lab, and fellow of the INK global conference. Winter 2017, Mars will publish his second book "Manifesto of Mistakes", a comprehensive ecocity planning manual for Asia.
