Neville Budd

I was born in Portsmouth, Royal Naval & Marine Maternity Hospital 1st October 1938.
We moved to Hayes, Middlesex in 1940 and then to Bletchley Park, where the ENIGMA and Lorenz codes were broken, and our father worked during WWII in 1940 through until 1949 with my twin sisters and older brother, we were the only family to live in the Park during this time then we moved to the Plough Inn at Simpson, Near Bletchley.
In 1950 I attended the Royal Hospital School; Holbrook which before it moved there in 1932 it was the Royal Palace at Greenwich donated by the then King William and Queen Mary to be converted into an Institution for Relief and Support of Seamen.
I left in 1955 and joined the Royal Navy until 1960, as a Voice Radio & RADAR Operator Served on various ships and shore stations in England, Mediterranean and the Far East as RADAR Operator & Plotter, communications ship/aircraft and on Coast Watching Duties in the Far East.
In 1959 on July the 25th, I married Sarah Doreen Charnock, who sadly died last November 2012; we lived in Leighton Buzzard until 1983. I was a Professional Inspection Engineer? Industrial Radiologist and Lectured on NDE for 5 years and worked for 55 years on the North Sea, Middle East, North and South Africa and Far East.

All of the family are now on the 'Roll of Honour' alongside

so many great men and women who gave so much of their lives to help shorten WWII by at least 2 years saving many lives, I am proud to be along side these people and the youngest ever to be mentioned on the 'Roll'

We lived in South Africa for about 24 years, I am now at home alone and during the time Sally was ill I started to write and so far I have written 4 Children's books, 2 Factual based books about the time we lived in Bletchley Park during WWII where our father worked, 7 fiction books, I returned to Leighton Buzzard in 2013 and enjoy being back home, now I am a speaker to societies and Institutions who are interested in Bletchley Park and our lives as children living there during WWII when the Code Breakers broke the Enigma and Lorenz Codes.
